"Can you go visit my mom?"

No, the question did not come from a teenager who had some explaining to do, it was, rather, a concerned adult, Jack, living elsewhere while worrying about his mother. Understandably, too, considering that his mom was bed-bound and hadn't been out of the house in months. She could handle being at home, but the solitude was getting to her.

"Of course", I said. After all, isn't this why we're here? And visiting the sick or infirm is a mitzvah anyway!

Jack's mom now has a friend who visits her on a regular basis. She is informed and feels involved in what takes place in the community. Best of all, Jack said she sounded much different last time they spoke. In a good way, thank G-d.

Dear Friends,

What you've just read is a  true story that is indicative of many more such occurrences that we are now equipped to assist with at Chabad of Monroeville, thanks to our recently launched  Golden Smiles ( www.goldensmiles.org) seniors program.

As you know, this is just one of the initiatives that we've launched at Chabad  since we arrived in Monroeville in 2009.

Golden Smiles, JLI – Adult education courses, Shabbat dinner and services, Jewish Women’s Circle, Men's club, Children’s programming, Holiday events and the list goes on.

The best part is that it all happens thanks to what I like to call  our partnership with our kind contributors who's generosity helps towards to the greater good of us all.

Let us continue to partner.

Please mark this "giving season" by taking a moment to  make a contribution

The center we run is entirely self-funded, and relies on generous community members and friends like yourself. Our services to the community run a yearly budget of $150,000 -- every dollar of which comes from individual, private donations.

As 2016 comes to a close, I urge you to partner with us in the important work that we do by contributing to our year-end campaign. Your generosity will allow us to continue providing the spiritual sustenance so many are seeking.

Contributions of any amount can be made by  clicking the link on this page or

by mailing a check to Chabad of Monroeville 2715 Mosside Blvd. Monroeville, PA 15146

or by calling our office at 412-372-1000

Thank you for being a partner in the Chabad of Monroeville family!

With blessings,

Rabbi Mendy Schapiro
